Our Mission & CORE Values

The Upper Avenue Community Association (UACA) is a not-for-profit group of volunteers serving the residents of our community within the boundaries of Avenue Road to Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue to Lawrence Avenue.

UACA was founded on the desire to make where we live not just a neighbourhood, but a community. We believe a healthy community is one in which we know our neighbours and look out for each other. Where our streets are safe and traffic flows effectively. Where public spaces are enjoyable and designed to serve the needs of those who live here.

OUR MISSION IS TO FOSTER THE WELL-BEING OF OUR COMMUNITY through three key areas of safety, responsible development and community engagement.

AND OUR CORE VALUES ARE:

  1. Objective representation of our residents in a manner that ensures their voices are accounted for as we take actions and influence decisions of city representatives on their behalf

  2. Responsible development that respects city bylaws and the Avenue Road Study and improves our neighbourhood

  3. An inclusive, active community where neighbours help neighbours to ensure our safety and enrich our lives

  4. Democracy in action where elected officials are held accountable to act on our behalf

  5. Transparent communication that is respectful, engaging and keeps all stakeholders informed
