The Ledbury Park neighbourhood and immediate area is home to several schools - public, private, Catholic and Jewish schools are all available to the children of our community. This is a synopsis of the local choices to grade 8.

LEDBURY PARK

The entire Ledbury Park neighbourhood from Carmichael Ave. south is included in the catchment area for Ledbury Park Elementary and Middle School with the admissions boundary also extending south of Lawrence Ave.

Recognized for its strong parent-school partnerships, Ledbury Park’s staff emphasizes a comprehensive academic program with a strong focus on literacy, numeracy as well as student engagement and empowerment. Vibrant co-curricular/after school programs enhance the growth and development of its more than 500 students.

ST. MARGARET’S

Catholic

The entire Ledbury Park neighbourhood is included in the catchment area for St. Margaret’s although the admissions boundary extends to the north, west and east.

St. Margaret Catholic School offers a middle Extended French program, beginning in grade 5 and continuing to grade 8. Students participating in this program are taught in French for half the day and in English for the other half.

English language instruction is also offered to students newly arrived from non-English speaking countries.

Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities help to round out a student’s school experience. St. Margaret’s utilizes staff members to operate a variety of sports, music and leadership opportunities available before, during, and after school.

ARMOUR HEIGHTS

Though not located in the Ledbury Park neighbourhood, Armour Heights is the designated school for those residents living north of Carmichael and its boundary extends east. It will be converted from a JK-grade 6 school to JK-grade 8, retaining grade 7 effective September 1, 2021, and grade 8 effective September 1, 2022.

Armour Heights Public School is located on the north side of Wilson Avenue, east of Avenue Road. It first opened in 1945 and, at that time, was considered to be a state-of-the-art building. The school serves approximately 370 students and partners with the nearby Canadian Forces and Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club. Armour Heights promotes active citizenship through a focus on critical thinking, character education and social responsibility and engages our students with teaching tools like SmartBoards in every classroom.

BANNOCKBURN SCHOOL

ATTENTION: The Bannockburn building be re-opened as Bannockburn Public School effective September 1, 2023, initially as a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3 French Immersion centre, and expanding by one grade per year up to and including Grade 6 in September 2026;

Other recommendations of the Program Area Review Team that did not require Board approval but were supported by TDSB staff are as follows:

a) That TDSB begin retrofitting the Bannockburn building in July 2022 to ensure that it is compliant with TDSB standards prior to re-opening.

b) That consideration may be given to Grade 3 French Immersion students at John Fisher Jr PS in September 2023 to remain at John Fisher Jr PS provided there is available space.

c) That the intermediate and secondary pathway for Bannockburn PS’s French Immersion program be the same as the current John Fisher Jr PS French Immersion pathway (subject to change as per TDSB’s operational procedure PR597).

THE CLOVER SCHOOL

The Clover School is a CCMA accredited Montessori school with an innovative curriculum designed to meet the needs of contemporary childhood. The Clover School’s Midtown Campuses comprise two schools across the street from each other with a total enrolment of 400. Both locations share bright and uplifting interiors with light-filled classrooms, and all of the facilities necessary for Montessori learning.

Catering to students from 18 months to 6 years of age, the Midtown Junior Campus is located on Bathurst Street and features a large yard with playground.

The Midtown Elementary Campus (pictured) for ages 3 to Grade 8, is located on a quiet cul-de-sac adjacent to Woburn Park. The campus features two full stories of classrooms as well as a gymnasium, playground, and an urban garden with year-round greenhouse.

ASSOCIATED HEBREW SCHOOLS

Located just east of Bathurst, the Posluns Education Centre campus of Associated Hebrew Schools (AHS) is popular with Jewish residents of our neighbourhood.

From the school’s inception in 1907, Associated has charted a visionary path that has shaped the character of Jewish education in Toronto while representing a wide range of cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, and religious practice.

Rooted in Jewish traditions yet with teaching methods that are anything but traditional, AHS nurtures a culture of innovation and supports student success through inquiry-based learning. A differentiated learning approach allows for meeting the individual needs of students while teaching our students to be ethical, knowledgeable and engaged citizens.
